SpeakFluent is a mobile app for Spanish speakers to learn English by speaking from day one, instead of piling up vocabulary they never get to use.
It combines voice conversation with a spaced-repetition engine that decides what to review: the user only has to show up.
// THE CHALLENGE
Language apps hook you with streaks but do not produce speakers: you can be a hundred days in without ever holding a conversation. Speaking had to sit at the centre from the very first session, and correction had to happen without cutting the conversation short.
// THE SOLUTION
I built a mobile app with:
- 01Voice conversation with a partner that replies and suggests the user’s next turn.
- 02A shortcut that preps the scene’s vocabulary in one minute when the user gets stuck.
- 03Corrections at the end of the session, explaining the why and not just the correct form.
- 04Spaced repetition over the level’s vocabulary, with a bounded daily review.
- 05A streak that rewards real consistency rather than empty minutes.
- 06Examples that start from Spanish, rather than being translated from English.
